About Jenice

The Personal Perspective Behind Every Story

The Dominican Republic is one of those places where most visitors see about 10% of what's actually there. The resorts in Punta Cana are beautiful, and I get why people love them. But the first time we left the resort zone and drove to Samana, everything changed. Hidden beaches with no one on them. A waterfall in the jungle. Whale watching in waters so blue they looked unreal.

Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial hit me hardest. Walking through the oldest European-built streets in the Americas, eating fresh seafood at a restaurant where merengue was playing and everyone was dancing — that's the Dominican Republic that stays with you. This island has centuries of history, incredible food, and a warmth that the all-inclusive experience only hints at.

I'm the one who finds the beachfront restaurant where the fish was swimming that morning, the colmado where you can get authentic manguu, and the local music venue where bachata started. When Scott is comparing resort packages and planning transport between regions, I'm building the cultural experience list.

Scott handles the logistics. I find the island's heartbeat. Scott knows which resort has the best value in Punta Cana. I know the restaurant in the Zona Colonial where we'll eat the best la bandera of our lives. Together, we cover the DR from resort to real.
